Purpose of Arts and Crafts Competition
To encourage children to use their God-given artistic and creative talents to the best of their abilities.
To offer an opportunity for children to display their artistic achievements.
To allow children to grow artistically by having their work critiqued.
To expose children to the abilities and efforts of others.
Although Arts and Crafts are really two separate divisions, information concerning both areas is included together since they have much in common.
Art pieces are two dimensional drawings, sketches, paintings, and many other media. Craft pieces are three dimensional objects that may be made of nearly any material.
In preparing your Arts and Crafts pieces, please take note of the following:
Creativity and originality are very important.
“Color by number” kits and similar types of projects are not to be entered.
Experiment before you “create your masterpiece.”
Don’t relying on others to help.
Frame or mount your work to give it a finished look.
Have your teacher carefully inspect the work being entered. Does it seem appropriate for the grade level? Is it consistent with the child's ability?
You may enter as many art projects and craft projects as you wish. There is a separate fee required for each project.
You must enter in time for your teacher to register your project(s) before the deadline.
Be sure your name is on the entry form your teacher submits, and be sure you have paid your fees.
Student identification slips must be firmly attached to the lower right front of each project, and judges' forms are to be attached with paper clips to the front of the projects.
All projects and art work must be brought to Luther High on Friday before the fair (First Friday of November.)
